Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that can happen to us several times in a day, i.e. when our attention is focused on something to the exclusion of all other things. It is a state which contains unique physiological characteristics, but resembles sleep only superficially as individuals under hypnosis will retain a level of awareness. (You will always be in control)

Hypnosis means by-passing the conscious (critical facility) part of our mind to communicate directly with the unconscious which is responsible for creating our unwanted drives and behaviours. By incorporating theory from other psychological schools of thought, hypnosis has become a more powerful tool for dealing with psychological and behavioural difficulties.
